Khao Lak Local Dive Sites
These dive sites will offer an excellent opportunity for novice or experience divers alike to review their diving skills before heading to the Similan and Surin Island National Parks.
For experienced divers these sites will be the perfect training ground to test new dive equipment or for those interested in Macro marine life and Underwater Photography.
All dive sites close to Khao Lak offer perfect opportunities to enroll in a specialty dive course, such as Nitrox or Digital Underwater Photography.
Our fleet of longtail boats will support our local beginner dive courses offered by Khao Lak Scuba Adventures.
Boonsung Wreck
This boat was owned by the Boonsung Tin Mining Company and operated along the Andaman coast throughout the tin mining boom which ended early last decade.
The boat sank in 1984 under unknown circumstances and is resting on the seabed in an average depth of 18 - 20 meters.
This wreck is 60 metres in length, 12 metres wide and 6 metres high and lies positioned in a north to south direction. After the Tsunami in 2004 the wreck was split into three parts. Penetration is not
allowed.
Marine Life:
Lion fish, scorpion and stonefish, honeycomb and white eyed morays, durban dancing, box and mantis shrimps, sepia and squid, ghost pipefish, seahorses, frog fish, sand dragonet fish, porcupine fish, flounders and a myriad of nudibranchs. Larger species include, leopard sharks, stingrays, batfish, barracuda, trevallies and occasionally the magnificent WHALE SHARK!
Boonsung Wreck: Sunken tin mining wreck

Khao Na Yak
Khao Na Yak is Khao Lak's house reef. Only 30 minutes away by local boat and with a maximum depth of 8 - 10 m. This is a most relaxing dive and an excellent dive site for new divers or for those who haven't dived for awhile.
Khao Na Yak Reef as well as the Boon Sung Wreck also appeals to experienced divers who like to spend some time focusing closely on the varied fish life of a tropical reef.

Premchai Wreck
The "Condreco" Wreck also called "Premchai" Wreck was built in
Sliedrecht in the Netherlands in the seventies. Similar to the Boon Sung Wreck, she sank under unknown circumstances 10 years ago close to the harbour of Taplamu, 7 km south of Khao Lak.
The wreck rests now in an average depth of 20 m with the top of the wreck extending to around 15 meters.
Still in one solid piece, you can see the crack along the hull that sank
her. Due to the massive amount of nets and cables penetration is not
allowed.
