Welcome to the Dome of Doom! We tried our luck again with the manta call and…. IT WORKED! MANTA UNDER THE BOAT! The Thailand dive did not disappoint with two manta rays cruising over and around the dome, even barreling up and through a HUGE school of barracudas. Even the open water group diving with Emma at 12m were loving the dive and able to experience everything. What an amazin...

16 February, 2015, 9:08 am  Author: khaolakscuba | View 8415

Sun rise on day two saw us jump on Whale back rock, we had dozens of stingrays and almost as many lobsters. Black tip reef shark was the star of the show at Elephant Head Rock! Standing on the deck waiting to jump on the West Ridge, I hear the call from the Captain, "Manta"! We jump to find a Sea Snake, an octopus and tons more but the Manta had vanished.  Next Th...

Over the four days, we had so many amazing encounters with everything from the smallest Ghost Pipefish (3 next to each other!) and male and female Tigertail Seahorses to the larger stuff like Octopus, Cuttlefish and Turtles. One lucky diver even saw a Shovel Nose Ray at the Three Trees dive site on the second morning. Awesome! Add to that a cool shipwreck on the last day, and it was really a g...

Our third dive we are on Koh Tachai where the visibility is amazing and there’s lots of activity. We end the day with a night dive and after a fantastic meal we go to sleep, excited for the next day. Our second day starts on Koh Tachai and we dive ...

Day 3 and the news of the north wasn't good, boats had been turning back in rough seas. It might just be me, but I think there might be worst places to get stuck than the Dome! The guys, including by now, those newer divers who were ready for the Dome, enjoyed having the place largely to ourselves. We finished the day with some magic on the west ridge, always a crowd pleaser. Still can'...

It was still looking for it as we enjoyed our sunrise dive at the Dome. So after the dive, off we went the this world famous rock. What a day! Three great dives, it is hard remember everything as it was just too much going on there. It was then one of my favorite parts of the trip which is the long sail back to Koh Bon through sun set and into the nights sky. To awake at such a beautifu...

Thailand dive Manta Queen 2 Trip 172 where we began our adventure

7 February, 2015, 9:22 pm  Author: khaolakscuba | View 6590

Koh Tachai was beautiful with sightings of zebra moreys, nudibranch, anenome crabs and giant barracudas. With limited water movement it was peaceful being underwater with the sunshine streaking through overhead and lighting all the colours the reef has to offer. Making the call with the seas being as flat as they were we decided that four dives on the famous Richelieu Rock was the best ...
